Happy Earth Hour!
Arctic Chill
Lumene is a skin care line that uses ingredients from Nordic plants and berries and harnesses their power into effective skin care. Harvested by hand, the raw materials of the Arctic are used in the products to help illuminate your skin's beauty.
I recently had the opportunity to test out a few of their products and I love their Sensitive Touch Cleansing Wipes.
The wipes completely removed all traces of make-up (including waterproof mascara) and didn't irritate my uber-sensitive skin.
They are formulated with 100% organic arctic linen seed to calm the skin and are fragrance-free.
Stash a package in your gym bag for the next time you need a quick refresh after a workout.
For more information on the complete Lumene line, visit their website.

Is Dry Shampoo Safe?

| Does LC use dry shampoo as a short cut? |
I don't know about you, but now that I use dry shampoo, I can't imagine living without it. It extends blowouts, adds extra volume when you're hair falls flat and is a speedy short cut when you simply don't have the time for a complete do-over of your coif. But could your dry shampoo be harmful to your locks? I asked Charles Booth, founder and creator of LaCoupe hair care to weigh in.

A: Dry shampoos have been used safely for well over a 150 years and they are proven to be very beneficial to both the hair and scalp.
Q: Is there anyone you would advise against using dry shampoo?
A: They are perfectly safe for use by virtually anyone. Our new innovative approach means you can pick the right one for your own type of hair - "Volume" for fine hair. "Moisture" for dull dry hair and “Perfect Curl" for curly/wavy hair.

Q: If you are going to use dry shampoo, which formula is better - powder or spray?
A: Powders put a talcum-powdery and dulling film on the hair. The new spray formulas automatically and easily disperse the cleansing agents so finely that they cannot be seen by the naked eye and the cleansing agents are well distributed throughout the hair and scalp.
Q: How do you recommend using dry shampoo?
A: This is the most important part of getting the best results. The first step - and an extremely crucial one - is to shake the spray can really well. Then, holding the can at about 10-12 inches from the head, direct the spray into the roots of the hair, either having sectioned it off, starting at the back of the head, or simply by turning the head upside down. Keep shaking the can occasionally in between bursts. Use short bursts, approximately one second long. The amount to use depends on the length and thickness of the individual head of hair. Start by using a little and then add more if necessary. Next, using the tips of your fingers, massage the roots of your hair, then brush or comb through to evenly disperse the product. A natural bristle brush would work best unless you have curls and waves that you would like to retain, in which case using fingers in a raking and scrunching movement is better.
Q: Should you use clarifying shampoo after using dry shampoo?
A: The truth is our dry shampoo formulations are very modern and use state-of-the-art chemistry so they do not buildup in the hair. Some of the older powder formulations, especially when used day after day may be harder to remove and might require a clarifying shampoo.
Q: Can using dry shampoo more than two days in a row be harmful?
A: There is nothing harmful in a dry shampoo that should worry anyone about using them frequently.
Based Charles' advice, I’ll be keeping my dry shampoo in heavy rotation. What about you? If you’re new to the world of dry shampoos and are looking for one to test out, La Coupe has three formulations (Volume Refresh, Curl Refresh or Moisture Refresh) available so you can match it to your individual needs.
