Trumped

The Trump Toronto Hotel officially opened its doors today. Even if you don't plan on booking one of the rooms, you definitely need to find some time to check out the amazing Quartz Crystal Spa.

At 31 floors above street level, the 15,000 square-foot, bi-level oasis offers a lavish selection of treatments that focus on harmonizing the mind, body and soul. Featuring 10 treatment rooms, two couples suites and infrared saunas this spa will not disappoint.

Guests can indulge in luxurious treatments customized specifically to their needs as Quartz Crystal offers an unrivaled assortment of facial treatments, a selection of 50 or 80-minute specialty massages and full-day relaxation retreats for the entire body. La Dolce Vita For Two ($1130) offers the opportunity to reconnect with someone special through a full day of indulgence in the Quartz Private Spa Suite.

The spa experience also includes an indoor, heated, salt-water infinity lap pool, a movement studio (with a range of wellness programs such as yoga, Pilates, personal fitness training) and a fully equipped fitness facility with Technogym equipment.

The spa hours are 8 am  to 9 pm, Monday - Saturday, and 8 am to 6 pm on Sundays.

Personally, I'm dying to try out the Ultimate Oxygen Facial (90 mins, $200).

Sag Awards: Best Dressed

The red carpet looks at last night's SAG Awards were a little too safe for me. Don't get me wrong - there were many beautiful dresses - but few risks were taken. Here's a snapshot of some of the trends from the evening:

Back in Black
Nothing to wear? Choose Black.  These celebs that did just that:

Angelina Jolie
Angie has always been a fan of black, even back in her more controversial days. This Jenny Packham dress was a little ho-hum and made her look too skinny (although maybe it's because she is TOO thin). I also think she has worn something similar in the past, but can't seem to figure out when or where...

Emma Stone
Emma Stone has been rocking the red carpet lately. This Alexander McQueen ensemble is simple yet stunning.

Jayma Mays
I'm no Gleek, but Jayma Mays looked amazing last night. Fit to perfection, this sequined Reem Acra gown stood out for me.

Bright Stars
While black can be a no-brainer, these ladies opted to brighten the landscape in rich, saturated hues:

Sofia Vergara
Sofia knows what looks great on her and doesn't deviate. She turned heads in a fitted Marchesa gown.

Natalie Portman
Normally, I'm not a fan of Natalie's fashion choices. I often think she chooses dresses that are more suited for the prom than a Hollywood event. However, last night, I LOVED her in this Giambattista Valli streamlined, flow-y dress.

Giuliana Rancic
Giuliana was the picture of poise in a scarlet Basal Soda gown. Definitely my best-dressed of the night.

Motivation

In the winter, sometimes convincing yourself to go the gym or out for a run is difficult. At the end of the workday, it's dark and cold and a glass of wine and TV sound much more appealing that a sweat session.

Whenever I need a jumpstart, I just watch this video. Since it makes my workout seem like nothing, it always gets me going.

What is your secret to staying on track?

Beckham and the NFL?

Turns out David Beckham will get one of the coveted spots in the Super Bowl courtesy of H&M.

H&M will debut a 30-second ad during the Super Bowl to launch the new DAVID BECKHAM Bodywear collection. The company recently announced a long-term alliance with David Beckham, which kicks-off with the nine-piece Bodywear collection on February 2  in 1,800 H&M stores worldwide.

“We’re always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers, and we see this as a unique opportunity to reach millions of fans and H&M customers.” says Steve Lubomski, Director of Marketing for H&M North America.

Golden Globes: Nude is Hot

The Golden Globes are always kind of a joke. More fun than the Oscars, they usually offer up some interesting moments - both from fashion standpoint and otherwise - but they never reach the level of the Academy Awards. The fashion is no different. Everyone goes all out for the biggest red carpet of the season, so it's as if they hold back a bit at the Globes. Last night was no different. In a sea of blush and prom-like dresses, here are the top five that stood out for me:

Charlize Theron
With her contract with Dior, it's no surprise that Charlize wore yet another one of their dresses last night. While sometimes they can seem too over the top, this one hit the mark with just the right about of whimsy and glamour.

Emma Stone
Definitely my choice for best dressed of the night - Emma Stone looks simply stunning in a tulle Lanvin dress and eagle belt.

Mila Kunis

If you're going to go with basic black, then you can't go wrong with this chiffon Dior dress. Love.

Elle MacPherson

Ok, I know she's a model so wearing haute couture comes easily to her, but you can't deny that Elle looked amazing in this Zac Posen gown.

Zooey Deschanel
I know there are people out there who simply HATED this dress, but Zooey is a quirky girl and this Prada dress totally suits her. Besides, sometimes it's better to take a risk then to just stick with something safe.

Salma Hayek
I love how Salma Hayek always chooses dresses that show off her curves. This Gucci dress highlights her tiny waist as well as her other (ahem) assets.

A few other honourable mentions...

Claire Danes

I thought this J.Mendel dress was a little ill-fitting in the bodice, but it looked amazing from the back.

Nicole Kidman
The snug-fitting Versace gown showed off her incredible body.

Now that the Globes are wrapped, I'm looking forward to red carpet fashion taken to the next level at the Oscars.

Making it Stick

It's just about halfway through January and I have a confession to make. I have not decided on my New Year's resolutions yet. I'm not sure what the hold up is, but I just can't quite seem to commit to any this year.  I'm still working on my resolutions from the beginning of 2011 as well as the ones I set at the beginning of September. Since they are still works in progress, I obviously need to make sure the ones I set for 2012 are a bit more specific.

Turns out there are three key components that any resolution must have to increase the likelihood of achieving it.

To find out what they are, click here.

Welcome 2012!

Happy New Year!

New beginnings. New goals.

What are you going to do to make this year even better than the last?
