Magic at the Met: Savage Beauty

"There's no way back for me now. I am going to take you on journeys you've never dreamed were possible."
- Alexander McQueen

Beautiful, haunting, sublime. That is how I would describe the Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

If you ever doubted McQueen's brilliance this exhibit will change even the staunchest naysayer's mind.

Set up in several rooms, the exhibit takes you through various stages of McQueen's career. Peppered with quotes from the designer throughout, the exhibit feels both like a celebration of his work as well as a funeral service for his lost life.
It further solidifies McQueen's place in the fashion, showcases the art of haute couture and makes the loss of his genius even more raw.

If you get the chance to see the exhibit, even if you're aren't a fan of fashion, I highly reccommend it. The Met has extended the exhibit until August 7 ($20 for admission).

Go early to avoid long line ups and enjoy the escape into McQueen's romantic and macabre world.
